Appendix A. Choosing a Rendering Software

On your way to become a pro rendering artist, you will have to make the decision about which rendering application you are going to use. While most artists keep testing new software when it becomes available, they stick to one specific package for the majority of their work and invest significant time and money in education and upgrades. To give you some means of evaluation of the currently available technologies, we have provided this short list of criteria for rendering applications.

What should I look for in a renderer?

In general, you should look for the following features in a photorealistic rendering software:
