Design of Darrieus-Type Wind Turbines

This chapter presents an up-to-date resource for the design and analysis of Darrieus-style wind turbines. These turbines differ from the more traditional horizontal turbines in that they spin about a vertical axis. They can be used in constrained areas where large turbines are not viable. Air flow turns the turbine by using lift forces so that the spin occurs at a high rate and excellent power generation can be achieved.
