One reason to become passionate about strategic initiatives is that they can, literally, affect the life and death of your business. Consider MFI: starting from the original store, opened in 1964 in Edgware, Mullard Furniture Industries ultimately merged with ASDA in 1985 and grew to become a 200-store chain until it was sold to new owners in September 2006.[1] Its future is subject to question (the new owners bought the chain for one pound), but its past is something for us to note as we start to talk about the importance of getting everyone in your business behind the execution of your new initiative.
