New technologies have shaped not only the way we interact with other family members but the way we interact with our cities. What has been covered in this book mostly relates to a view of technological advancements in the United States and the United Kingdom, two economically prosperous nations. The baseline is high compared to others around the world. We’re far from everyone having access to indoor flushing toilets and private rooms for family members, as illustrated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Better Life Index. 1
