Nike: A Lesson in International Social Media Nondisclosure

Wayne Rooney is an English “footballer” (i.e., soccer player, for those of us in the United States) for Manchester United, and he is considered to be England’s best player. He’s popular, very popular. He has over 10 million followers on Twitter and about 25 million friends on Facebook.

A second English footballer, Jack Wilshere, is a midfielder for Arsenal, an English Premier League football club. He’s a star player, too, with over 1.6 million followers on Twitter (he had deactivated his Twitter account following the incident to be described) and over 3 million friends on Facebook.
