The prism of disciplinarity-inter-disciplinarity provides a useful way of looking at the history of modern academy and its institutional structure. This serves as a useful, meaningful perspective to make sense of the historically evolving interaction between sociology and management education. Most academic disciplines have a tendency to invoke an imaginary golden age from their disciplinary past when confronted with the challenge of inter-disciplinarity.
