How do projects get started? Certainly, it varies with the circumstances. Among the most obvious circumstances are the size and life stage of the company. In small companies, a fun idea tossed around in the coffee room can trigger a new project that might triple the size of the company. In large ones, ideas typically need to be described from a financial point of view and passed up the hierarchy for approval.
