A vital part of any good service-oriented framework, especially the Software Pipelines framework, is flexible support for connecting to services. So far our examples have all used the local connector; in this next example we’ll use the socket and Web service connectors.

Define and Configure a Connector

In the Pipelines Configuration document, you define connectors by adding one or more <pipelines-connector> elements to each Pipeline Distributor. The distributor listens on each of its connectors for clients, which connect to the distributor by using the appropriate interface.
