CHAPTER3Applying the Basics: Run Rates
Managing performance within a project rather than the performance of a project requires you to probe beneath work breakdown structure (WBS) items to the surrounding events and influences. It is not enough to know that the design for feature XYZ is 75 percent complete; you need to know what “complete” really means. For example:
Has 75 percent of the allocated time been used?
Are the technical aspects of the design three-quarters complete?
Is the documentation task (writing, reviewing, etc.) three-quarters ...
