Chapter 2

Literature Review

A review of previous theoretical and experimental work and the analysis of an anchor plate embedded in sand experiencing uplift loading are considered in this chapter. Some researchers were concerned with the general solution especially for an ultimate uplift capacity in sand. Generally, research into the behavior of anchors can be either in the form of experimental or numerical/theoretical studies. In this chapter no attempt is made to present complete information on all research in soil anchors, rather a more selective summary of related research is presented. However, the theory for the capacity of grouted anchors is also applicable to the typical soil pullout behavior for symmetrical anchor plates. It ...
