The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is working to bring standards to the measurements affecting weather, climate, and water. In 2008, WMO issued its seventh edition of the Commission for Instruments and Methods of Observation (CIMO) guide to meteorological measurements (http://www.wmo.int/pages/prog/www/IMOP/publications/CIMO-Guide/CIMO_Guide–7th_Edition–2008.xhtml).
