The Solar Labor Market—Efficiencies and Productivity

The solar labor market is becoming significantly more efficient, producing and installing solar energy systems at rate that outpaces employment growth. Throughout much of Europe, labor productivity in the sector has reached close to its maximum, meaning that increases in installed capacity will require proportionate hiring.

In the United States, on the other hand, efficiencies have yet to reach European standards. As a result, there is still excess capacity in the existing workforce, which is why hiring has not grown as rapidly as the installation figures might suggest.
