Research and Development Administration (ERDA). The program
received bigger recognition, when in 1977 the US government
consolidated the federal energy policy and ERDA was integrated
with the Federal Energy Administration and with other federal
energy functions and created a Cabinet level U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE). The result was that during the presidency of Jimmy
Carter (1977–1981) substantial money was earmarked for PV R&D
and for demonstration project.
