Swarf generated by FAST was processed into meltstock with
the CSI purification process. Resistivity and Glow Discharge Mass
Spectroscopy (GDMS) analysis indicated the suitability of this
material to serve as high-grade SoG Si feedstock. This raises the
prospect that the large and growing fraction of Si that now ends up
as a disposal problem in swarf can be recycled if Si is diamond-wire
sliced.
By recycling the swarf, one of the largest waste streams
