8Key Management Framework (KMF)
The Solaris Operating System supports a unified approach to managing public-key technologies. Reducing the complexity and improving the ease of use will lead to more wide-scale implementation of PKI systems and (hopefully) more secure networks. Often, applications that make use of PKI technologies use different programming interfaces, different key storage mechanisms, different administrative utilities, and different policy enforcement mechanisms. The Key Management Framework (KMF) addresses all of these issues by providing a unified set of administrative tools, a single programming interface, and a policy enforcement system that can enforce PKI policy.
