Chapter 13. Installing and Managing Application Software

When you support a network that provides application software to users, your responsibilities include the following tasks.

  • Setting up the software installation environment.

  • Installing the software on a server or on the users' local system.

  • Setting up the users' environment to access software.

  • Removing software that is obsolete or no longer used.

This chapter introduces the package commands and Admintool—two alternative ways to install and manage application software.
