DNS TROUBLESHOOTING
There may be a number of problems with the DNS client or DNS server or both. Some of the common problems and their solutions are discussed in the following sections. First, however, you should know the ways to verify that both server and client are working.
Testing DNS with nslookup
You have already seen in this chapter how to use the nslookup utility, which is the most widely used tool to troubleshoot DNS problems. If this command fails, either the DNS server or client or both are not configured properly. When the nslookup test fails, you should start testing other things. First, test the DNS client configuration. Follow this general procedure:
