The greatest benefit of an SLR is the ability to change the lens. Attaching a different lens transforms the camera—s vision of the world—and that can transform your vision of the world. Because there are so many lenses to choose from—made by Minolta, Sony, and third parties—complete coverage of each lens is out of the scope of this book, but I’ll go over the basic lens types and what each does to enhance your vision.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                        

It was hard to ignore how the clouds were mocking the orange trails from the nearby geysers in Yellowstone National Park. The only way to capture it was with a very wide-angle lens. Exposure: f/13, 1/400 second, ISO 100.
