Kids and pets are the most difficult and rewarding subjects to shoot. There’s such innocence, mischief, joy, and sadness; they’re a microcosm of all we are and the opportunity to juxtapose the extremes of adult emotion with childhood play can be infectious.

Change it up. When photographing kids, take advantage of the angles. Rather than getting down to their level (a good tip, nonetheless) or shooting from the common adult angle, I went up on the deck and caught these guys by surprise.
