Section 4: Setting Up the Camera
Let's get ready to take some pictures with your new camera! This section covers how to get your camera ready to roll, by showing you how to how to charge, install, and turn on the battery, attach the strap, and other steps you can take to get ready.
Turning On the Camera
If you're holding the camera, your left thumb is already atop the On/Off button. To turn on your camera, slide the switch to the right.
Basic Monitor Settings
There are a couple of things you can do to get your LCD monitor display working efficiently.
Set Monitor Brightness
You can change the brightness of the monitor to make it easier to read in existing lighting conditions. The brightness of the monitor does not affect the actual exposure.
In order to adjust image brightness:
Choose Setup menu 1 (the wrench icon).
Navigate down to LCD Brightness and press the right arrow key, then press the center (AF) button to see the grayscale screen.
Press the left arrow and right arrow keys until you can see all the shades of gray in the scale.
