Time for action — automating parameters

Let's add an old film effect to our studio scenes to give them an even more different feel. For the purpose of this exercise, let's add the plug-in to the whole track and we will use the parameter automation to turn the effect on and off when the appropriate scenes happen:

  1. Click on the track 3 Track FX button and from the plug-in chooser double-click on the Sony Film Effects plug-in, and then hit the OK button.
  2. Position your cursor over the second media clip (which is the guitarist in studio close up) so you can see it in the Preview Monitor.
  3. In the Video Track FX window select Circa 1980 from the Preset drop-down menu. You can also make adjustments to the parameters, such as the amount of dust particles, ...
