Defined

There are a couple of ways of defining the term sound design. It is commonly used to refer to the creation of a sound for a creature, alien, monster, spacecraft or other thing that humans may never have encountered before. This is what I refer to as a sound effects design. Sound design’s larger meaning is the overall soundscape of a film. This includes the music, sound effects, designed sounds, backgrounds and even the dialogue.
