INTRODUCTION

Prediction is the cornerstone of the design process. As designers, our role is to predict system performance so as to create the highest probability for successful optimization. Measurement is the cornerstone of the optimization process. Our optimization role is to act on the measured data and enact modifications and adjustments as required. This may prove or disprove the predictions. Our credibility as designers will depend upon how closely the aligned system meets expectations. These expectations were based on what our predictions indicated were possible.
