Chapter 10

Formation Control

Publisher Summary

This chapter presents a brief discussion of methods for continuous and impulsive formation control. The chapter discusses various continuous and discrete control methods for formation establishment, maintenance, reconfiguration, and fuel balancing. Examples of the applications of the Control Lyapunov Functions (CLF) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) methods are presented in conjunction with the feedback of errors based on mean and averaged elements. The CLF approach is used in the context of formation maintenance or tracking a reference orbit. The application of an optimization technique for computing multi-impulse reconfiguration maneuvers is discussed. Radial component of the thrust was inhibited ...
