WHY DID WE WRITE THIS BOOK?
There are several motivations that led to the writing of this book. We
started utilizing cloud computing for geoscience applications around 2008,
when cloud computing was just starting to take shape. During the past
several years, many cloud computing related books have been published
in the computer science domain. But there is no such book detailing the
various aspects of how the geoscience community can leverage cloud com-
