This chapter introduces three Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud
services: Amazon EC2, Windows Azure, and NASA Nebula. IaaS providers
offer virtual machines (VMs) to cloud customers for hosting their data
and applications. Several critical factors may impact the capacities of cloud
providers to effectively offer services to their customers, such as geographic
presence, user interface, automatic scaling and load balancing, and service
level agreement (SLA).
