Patterns of Several Types of Points
This chapter deals with the analysis of poin t patterns c onsisting of several different types of points,
called multitype point patterns. Such patterns are usually presented as m arked point patterns w ith
categorical marks.
14.1 Introduction
A multitype spatial point pattern is one that consists of several different types of points. Examples
include a map of trees in a wood, with labels showing the species classification of each tree; a map
of recent crimes, labelled by the type of crime; and a map of the sky position s of galaxies, classified
