Replicated Point Patterns and Designed Experiments
This ch apter deals with the analysis of data consisting of several point patterns.
16.1 Introduction
When an observation or experiment can be repeated several times under iden tical conditions, the
results are called replicated observations, or replicates of the same observation. Replication is
vitally important in statistics because it enables us to observe variability, and to sep arate different
sources of variability.
Replicated point patterns are sets of point patterns which ca n be regarded as realisations of the
same point process. For example, the waterstriders dataset co nsists of thr e
