Inserting Footnotes
Footnotes in Word are straightforward, although the terminology can be a bit difficult to
fathom.
To put a footnote in a document, click Insert, Reference, Footnote. The Footnote and
Endnote dialog box appears, allowing you to choose whether you want a footnote (at the
bottom of the page or bunched after the end of the text on the page) or an endnote (at the
end of the current section or the end of the document). Word numbers the footnotes (or
endnotes) for you, automatically, or you can specify your own footnote reference character.
