The Grammar Checker’s advice, on the other hand, can be overly simplistic. Why? Because
it’s rule-based, and English grammar is far too complex to fit neatly into a small set of rules.
If you know you need help with basic grammar issues, you can get a great deal of benefit
from the grammar checker. Most advanced users, however, find the squiggly green lines dis-
tracting and turn them off (choose Tools, Options, and on the Spelling & Grammar tab,
clear the Check Grammar As You Type box).
