Several years ago, Microsoft estimated that more than three million people used Visual Basic
for Applications (VBA). Although the precise figure certainly remains open to debate, it’s
fair to say that Visual Basic and VBA, taken together, constitute the most popular program-
ming language in the history of computing.
Visual Basic for Applications version 6.3 is a key component of Office 2003. It bears a strik-
