Windows provides support for printing from MS-DOS applications in much the same way it does for printing from Windows applications. The print stream is spooled using the RAW setting for the print spooler. The result is a faster return to MS-DOS applications and the ability to mix Windows and MS-DOS print streams (avoiding contention problems that occurred under Windows 3.1).
