Changing Settings and Properties with the Right Mouse Button

One important Windows concept is that most objects that you see on-screen have properties related to them. Properties can include such characteristics as an object's appearance and behavior.

You can change some properties, but others are read only—you can view them, but cannot change them. For example, changeable properties of the Windows desktop include the types of patterns and wallpapers used as backgrounds and the color of different screen elements. Read-only properties that you can see but not change include a file's size or a program's version number.
