The concept of networking is more than just connecting two or more computers together. Networks were developed to facilitate sharing resources, such as software or hardware devices, among computers. To communicate with one another, different networks need to be interconnected, just as the computers are linked to form the individual network. For example, if a company has branches spread across a country, the networks in the branch offices should be able to communicate with one another for the most effective functioning of the company.
