Telnet Protocol
A number of breakthroughs that contributed to the development of e-mail, file transfer, and remote file access were developed during the early days of the IT industry. One such “ancient” application is the Telecommunications Network (Telnet) protocol, initially developed by the Advanced Research Projects Agent (ARPA), which was established in 1956 by the US Department of Defense (DOD) to conduct scientific and technological research.
