The following glossary of terms introduces common terms and concepts that are used in this book and the field of digital graphic and Web design in general.

absolute URL

Any URL that specifies the entire path to the referenced file. For example, http://www.phireworx.com/default.asp is an absolute URL. Contrast this with Relative URL.

accessibility

The measure of how well a site, interface, or those with disabilities can use applications.

actionscript

The scripting language used in Macromedia Flash.

additive color

With additive color, adding colors to an object whitens it. Additive color is the opposite of subtractive color, where adding colors (such as mixing paints) darkens them. Additive color appears on computer screens and in movie theatres. ...
