2.2. Configure SQL Server 2008

In addition to making sure that you have successfully planned the operating platform for SQL Server, you must ensure that you have configured SQL Server appropriately for your enterprise environment. In the following sections, we will look at the server configuration options in the SSMS and explore the SQL Server Configuration Manager, the tool that you will use for service configuration.

2.2.1. Configuring the Server with the SSMS

Most of the standard server configuration options are available from the Properties window on the server node of the Object Explorer. This is a multipage dialog that organizes all configurations by category. We will take a closer look at the dialog to see the options available.
