Adding a dataset based on the multidimensional model

Now that we have set up a data source to connect to the Analysis Service database, we need to define a dataset for our report, which is based on a cube in the multidimensional model we deployed in the previous demonstration.

If you've created datasets in the exercises in previous chapters, there shouldn't be any difference up to this point.

  1. Right-click on the Dataset folder in the Report Data window. Select Add Dataset, which displays the Dataset Properties dialog box.
  2. Name your dataset. Then, select Use a dataset embedded in my report. Select the data source we created above AnalysisServiceDatasource, and select Text for the query type.
