Today when you deploy SQL Server 2022, you have choices to run SQL Server on a laptop, a “bare-metal” server, or even a container. The most common choice to deploy and run SQL Server is a virtual machine. While running SQL Server with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and VMWare is extremely popular, many customers are now turning to the cloud to get the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) experience.
