8 Control Fundamentals

 

 

 

When we discuss lighting control, we usually refer to manners of controlling the brightness or intensity of the luminaires. This often relates to two aspects of luminaire control. First, it determines which fixtures are wired together so that they function collectively as a unit, and second, it determines the actual intensity or brightness of a unit(s). This can be done by using different wattages or powers of lamps or by using devices that regulate the power, which are called dimmers. Efficiency and luminaire placement also play a role in luminaire control but will not be considered here.
