This chapter builds on the general principles of entertainment lighting that were presented throughout the last several chapters. While the earlier chapters addressed primarily design process and the proscenium stage, this chapter expands to include considerations for other performance spaces, the nature of an event, and the role of genre and presentation style on a lighting design. The focus of these discussions is centered on performance events like drama, although the concepts can be expanded to include opera, dance, and musical theatre.
