When the show has completed its run, it is time to strike—tear down the sets and return or store the props and costumes. It is usually desirable to clear the stage area as soon as possible after the last performance.

In union companies the close of the show is announced two weeks in advance by a closing notice signed by the producer and posted on the callboard.

STRIKE PLAN

To accomplish the strike efficiently, write out and distribute a strike plan. This plan lets each person involved know what is expected (figure 16.1). Coordinate the plan with all concerned department heads.
