Chapter 44Supporting the Company Culture

After your brand has been built and a demand generation strategy has been established, you can turn some of your attention inward. There's a significant role for a CMO and the marketing organization as a whole to play in nurturing the company culture and positioning the company as not only a great one to work with but a great one to work for.

From recruitment marketing efforts, to facilitating internal communications, to supporting employee engagement, there are countless opportunities for Marketing to collaborate with the HR/People/Talent team and lend marketing support to either spearhead or provide resources for employee‐targeted initiatives. Very early in your startup you should work to develop a collaborative, proactive relationship with the People team. Don't wait for them to reach out to you for marketing ideas that can augment your culture, but set up a regular cadence with them to discuss and plan how Marketing can add to the culture.
