Statistical computing
In this chapter we provide details of implementations of Monte Carlo com-
putational methods introduced in Chapter 4 to nuclear imaging discussed in
Chapters 3 and 5. We apply the methods to nuclear imaging in which the
imaged object is assumed to consist of voxels containing some number of ra-
dioactive nuclei. As described in Chapter 5 there is a large variety of scanner
technologies geometries , principles of detection, etc. However, a common de-
nominator between them is that if a decay occurs in a voxel of the object
there is a constant deterministic chance sp ecified by the system matrix that
the event is detected in one
