Classical regression analysis

Regression models describe nondeterministic dependencies between so-called independent variables x and the corresponding so-called dependent variables y. In standard statistics the values of both kinds of variables are assumed to be numbers or vectors. In reality observed values are not precise numbers but more or less fuzzy. Therefore a generalization of regression analysis to the situation of fuzzy data is necessary. In this chapter regression models are first described, and then the generalization to fuzzy data is explained.
