About the Author
Deborah Rumsey has a PhD in statistics from Ohio State University. Upon graduating, she joined the faculty in the Department of Statistics at Kansas State University, winning the distinguished Presidential Teaching Award. She eventually returned to Ohio State and is now an Associated Professor for the Department of Statistics. Dr. Rumsey is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA), and she has served on the ASA’s Statistics Education Executive Committee. She’s the author of Statistics For Dummies (Wiley), as well as other For Dummies books, and she has published many papers and given many professional presentations on the subject of statistics education. She is a founding member of CAUSE: The Consortium of Undergraduate Statistics Education, and the conference designer for USCOTS: The United States Conference on Teaching Statistics. Her particular research interests are curriculum materials development, teacher training and support, and immersive learning environments. Her passions, besides teaching, include her family, fishing, bird-watching, driving a tractor, raising baby farm animals, and Ohio State Buckeye football (not necessarily in that order).
