Digitisation Programmes and Outputs in the UK
Abstract
For over 20 years, there has been much proactive development of digitisation in the UK. This chapter identifies several major initiatives and providers in the UK from the 1990s to the present day. Their outputs serve as exemplars for discussions in later chapters about selection of content and its coordination. The aims, priorities and content delivered are described in each case. The chapter tracks the changing emphases and priorities of such initiatives as the digital environment has evolved and as strategic and financial support has waxed and waned.
