The Crisis

April 16 At 7 a.m., I call Arthur. He is tied up. I say it is urgent; Arthur gets back to me in an hour. I ask, “What happened?” He doesn’t know; he was out locating lines. I ask when he can find out. He puts me on hold and contacts the line foreman. Arthur comes back and says the line foreman inspected the job on Monday and the trench is fine. I say that the work was scheduled for Monday morning—what happened? He had promised that the inspection would be done the prior Friday. Arthur says he never said that; he claims he had said the inspection would be done Friday or Monday. If I had scheduled all those people there Monday morning, it was my mistake.
