The End of Caretaking

There is a price to be paid for more equitable, less oppressive, and more outcome-based pay systems: the protection of the old systems disappears. Many of us still believe that our organization should guarantee that our pay will keep even with inflation, or that we should make as much or more next year as we did this year. This is our wish to be taken care of, regardless of what we deliver or the organization’s ability to pay. In choosing partnership, we live with the risks of being an owner.
