Treating Caution as a Choice
Stewardship seeks the successful integration of the spirit, the marketplace, and politics. If the spirit is empty or the marketplace is ignored, no political system or governance system can succeed. We need this three-legged stool to stand on. This means that each reform effort begins as an act of faith and gets built when responsibility and commitment are widely shared. Creating stewardship means we need to find a way to evoke faith and responsibility and commitment in those around us and at a minimum to keep the cynics, victims, and by standers from controlling the emotional environment and undermining our efforts.
